RM,
About the Book:
This book presents a non-exhaustive selection of scans and screenshots from the RM archive, both physical and digital, arranged in broadly chronological order.
It covers the first 23 years of RM Gallery and Project Space, spanning from 1997 to 2022. RM, an artist-run space, project office, and archive based in Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand, has been instrumental in showcasing local emerging artists alongside more established practitioners. The gallery seeks to support and present practices and discourses that are not well-represented or easily accessible in Auckland.
Over the years, RM has undergone various incarnations, including rm3, rm212, rm401, and rm103, with locations at different addresses in Auckland, such as above Real Groovy at 438 Queen Street and at Samoa House Lane on Karangahape Road.
Established in 1997, RM is the longest-running artist-run space in New Zealand. The current cooperative members include Nina Dyer, Rakavi Jeyakumar, Rose Meyer, Sally McMath, Li Si-Rong, Taarn Scott, and Wesley John Fourie. This book captures the evolution of RM through a rich collection of visual and textual materials, offering a comprehensive view of its history, impact, and the community it has fostered.
